Eccles Foundry is a sand casting foundry using predominantly a modern fenotec (resin) hard sand technique. However, we still maintain a traditional green sand facility for specialist purposes.
The majority of castings are on behalf of customers to their specifications using their designs and patterns. In addition, we cast a range of our own Eccles branded products with details provided in
the products section.
We use a series of diesel fired tilt furnaces for most of our casting and can be melting up to five different metals on any given day.
Eccles Foundry provides castings in the following materials
Aluminium
Bronzes (Copper Alloys)
Zinc and Lead
Grey Cast Iron
SG Iron
Ni-Hard
A maximum individual casting weight of 150kg applies to ferrous metals.
We can pour from 300kg to 1200 kg of ferrous metals per day from four furnace melts.
The default standard for grey cast iron is AS1830 200T and for SG Iron is
Grade 600 -3, unless specified.
We are happy to consider casting lower volumes or one-off items in these materials dependent on scheduling of other orders.
We supply ferrous castings for mining and allied mining, marine, agriculture, general engineering and manufacturing.
Some examples include rail wheels, gearboxes, bearing housings, brake components, bushes, wear rings, pipe valves, blower housings, marine gypsies, grave markers, couplings and keyhole blocks.
Typically most aluminium jobs range in weight from 100grams to 20kg per piece but larger weights can be cast where required. We can pour over 400kg per day and can offer a comparatively rapid turn around time on aluminium castings.
We are happy to consider casting lower volumes or one-off items dependent on scheduling of other orders.
We regularly cast in various aluminium grades including the Australian Standard 3, 4 and 6 series. However, our default aluminium specification is Australian Standard CC601 (strontium modified).
The CC601 is marine grade, heat treatable and very suited for applications requiring high strength and corrosive resistance. CC601 is highly rated for the sand casting process and helps ensure the highest quality result for customers.
The range of items cast by Eccles in aluminium is extensive and we service the following types of industries (some examples are included):
1. Manufacturing/ fabrication – motor covers, motor components, furniture items, park equipment, bollards, recreational items, cooling fans, blower housings etc.
2. Marine - CC601 is marine grade suited for winch heads, capstans, winch fingers, ali elbows (certificate of analysis available for survey purposes).
3. General engineering - bushes, rings, piping valves.
4. Mining, allied mining.
5. Agricultural.
Gunmetals (LG1-4, standard is LG2)
Leaded Bronzes (LB1-5)
Phosphor Bronzes (PB1, PB2)
Ali Bronzes (AB1, AB2)
Brass (SCB)
Maximum individual casting weight for Gunmetal, Leaded Bronze, Phosphor Bronze and Brass is 150 kg.
Maximum individual casting weight for Ali Bronze is 150 kg.
We are happy to consider casting lower volumes
or one-off items in these materials dependent on
scheduling of other orders.
We are experienced in providing bronze castings
to marine engineering (including capstans, gypsies,
hose fittings, gland followers, prop nuts, and winch
fingers) and general engineering (bushes made to
order and gears).
Castings for restoration/ replica work or for the
hobbyist often require bronze and we are
experienced in dealing with unusual or difficult
odd jobbing work.
We will cast specialist alloys such as Zinc or Zinc alloys (EZDA12) for general engineering purposes.
Eccles foundry also pours lead if required and manufacturers lead cone crusher weights for the mining industry (refer to our Products section)
